Emma is a sweet and goodnatured little Oshawott that Jean got in a trade with Ash. Ash got Shitlord Temposhark the Gible and Jean got Emma, and Jean still feels like he kind of screwed Ash over on that trade. Everyone seems happy with it, though, and Jean DEFINITELY doesn't want the Gible back, so all is well.
Emma isn't much of a battler, and Jean has other, stronger water Pokemon he can use, so she spends most of her days playing with the other Pokemon and collecting shells.
